Who should do this Course?

This course is ideal for those working in the Early Years Sector such as a Crѐche, Preschool, Montessori or Child Care Facility and those who care for children in their own home as well as Parents/Grandparents/Guardians/Care Givers of children.  
 

 Training Objectives:

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  •         Describe and demonstrate Paediatric First Aid
  •         Describe the responsibilities of a First Aider
  •         Understand and demonstrate essential life saving skills
  •         Identify and administer first aid to medical and Trauma emergencies
  •         Identify risks to children in the home or workplace

 

Course Syllabus:

  •         Scene Assessment and Safety
  •         Incident management 
  •         Responsibilities of a First Aider
  •         CPR for Adults/Children and Infants
  •         AED for Adults and Children
  •         Choking Adults, Children and Infants 
  •         Dealing with an unconscious casualty 
  •         Common Medical Emergencies including Febrile Seizures, Epilepsy, Diabetes and Asthma
  •         Meningitis
  •         Poisoning
  •         Wounds & Bleeding 
  •         Fractures and soft tissue injuries
  •         Burns First Aid
  •         Head Injuries

 

Course Assessment:

Ongoing assessment throughout course

 

Course Certification:

Recommend recertification every 2 years

Any special needs / requirements should be identified at the time of booking. Participants should be advised to dress appropriately, due to the nature of the course, there will be manual skills including CPR.
